Lena Kramarić – "Erasing-Rewind", mixed media on canvas, 60x80cm, 2019
Lena Kramarić is known for her introspective and self-referential work that explores the outer world with regard to her inner world, relating the motives of real and unreal, factual, imaginary and subconscious in narrative scenes that leave room for viewer’s individual interpretation. Female figures are always present, as the motif of the painting at first glance, yet the second, more thorough look reveals them as a means to create an atmosphere, bringing the information and stimuli from the outer world on the canvas. Artistic expression is a way for the author to prevail over the own conditions and build own personal and artistic identity through the exploration of the unexplored. The painting "Erasing-Rewind" in its simplicity turns to be a powerful symbol of conscious and unconscious pursuits. It is a combination of the past (the dark part behind the back), present (the central part with the figure of a woman) and future (the area in front of the figure).
